They serve in the Green 1st, 8th, 10th and 12th Air Forces. Many types of missions are flown including fighter sweeps, combat air patrols and escorting attack, recon and other aircraft. Fighter pilots get air medals based on kills or number of missions. The last 2 aircraft types flown are shown the last type is current.
